After Beximco Group, Square Group and Pran Group, PHP Family is coming up

Along with Beximco Group, Square Group, Pran Group, PHP Family is contributing immensely to the economic progress of Bangladesh. Beximco Group and Square Group are the top private sector players but companies like PHP Family are coming up.

Sufi Mohammed Mizanur Rahman, an ex banker, established PHP Group which was later re-named as PHS Family. PHP Float Glass is a concern of PHP group and is the pioneer of glass industries in the country. Now PHP float glass industry is the largest glass producer. Ample success in Glass sector along with other indusial sector, PHP group is contributing much to the development of the country.

PHP float glass industry limited is Chittagong based sister concern of PHP group. Built on 30-acres of land, with a total investment of Tk 300 crore, the PHP Float Glass Industry at Barabkunda of Sitakunda in Chittagong launched its commercial production in 2005.It produces various types of glass according to local demands. It produces clear-glass sheet of 2MM to 12MM of 10 different sizes. It can produce around 54000 metric tons of glass every year and successfully contributing the country to be self-sufficient in glass sector. In Bangladesh, local companies provide 95% of total demand of float glass and PHP group produce the lion part of the total production. Now PHP mirror boasts holds around 70 percent share of the mirror market in Bangladesh.


Sufi Mohammed Mizanur Rahman is the founder of PHP group. He was born in Rupgonj, Narayangonj. In 1965, during study in college, he entered his first job in a jute company. During completing his graduation in 1968, Mohammad Mizanur Rahman entered National Bank of Pakistan ( now Sonali Bank). In 1972, he left job and entered in business. His honesty, hardworking and punctuality brought him immense success within some year of his business. In course of time, PHP group expanded its business branches and sector and successfully establish its name and fame in every sector. Currently he is the chairman of PHP group while his two sons also took responsibility of the company. His elder son Mohammad Mohsin is the vice chairman and Mohammad Iqbal Hossain, the younger son of Mizanur Rahaman, is the Managing director of PHP glass Industry ltd.


PHP group is one of leading company among highest tax payers. Its yearly business transaction reached more than 5000 crore. There are 20 sector of this company. In 2009-10 fiscal year, the company paid Tk600 crore as tax to government. Along with the development of country’s economy, PHP group is also playing a vital role to eliminate unemployment; around 10 thousand employees are working in its 20 business concern all over the country.


Along with the contributing to economical development of the country, PHP group also carries and participates in various social works out of corporate responsibility.  In October, 2015, PHP provided financial support to veteran local journalist of Daily Azadi for his treatment. Recently it announced that it would provide Tk12 core to a Mohila Madrasa for academic building construction. In 2012, it became sponsor for Bangladesh team for participated in International Informatics Olympiad in Italy. Apart from these, PHP group became partner with Bangladesh Cricket Board in 2011’s World Cup cricket. PHP group regularly holds blood donation program.


In 2005, a high-power 35-member government delegation the PHP Float Glass factory in Sitakunda as part of its plan to get Bangladesh's private sector competitive edge in the changing global economic scenario. In 2015, PHP signed deal with Malaysian counterpart to assemble Malaysian Proton cars in Bangladesh. The company is currently building its factory on 30 acres of land in Chittagong for Tk 400 crore. In 2005, PHP Float Glass Industries Ltd enlisted in stock market to raise funds for working capital. In 2011, it announced to float its share in stock market in a bid raise 3 crore as working capital. PHP Family signed a Corporate Payment Agreement with Standard Chartered Bank to avail Standard Chartered Bank’s Onsite Cheque Printing solution.
