Good things about Bangladeshi companies including Beximco

When we think about good and big companies, we tend to think anything other than our national companies. However the truth is very contradictory to our assumptions. Many of Bangladeshi companies including Beximco Group, ACI, Concord Group, Navana Group, Pran Group have created big names for themselves in the past.  We sometimes forget their contributions for the nation.

Many Bangladeshi companies are contributing in many business sectors such as poultry, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, aviation, automobiles, real-estate, clothing, media, textiles, garments etc. Companies like Beximco Group and Concord Group not only opened whole new sectors as pioneers for the country but also they opened up new job opportunity and research facilities. These places required more quantity of workers; that generally lead to more job specific courses in universities, resulting in general raise in literacy and also technicians of the country.

Bashundhara Group alone has a worker amount of 15000. In a country like Bangladesh, that is a huge contribution by one company alone. Same goes for Beximco Group which not only employs local people but also foreign people.

Bangladeshi products have improved dramatically over the years. Now when people want to buy an aerosol, they immediately think of ACI. As same, Pran’s Frooto has totally captured the local juice market and it is every bit as good as a foreign mango juice. When building something, RFL pipes and local cements are being used frequently. And the best part is, these products are providing the customers with the satisfaction they expect from foreign products and for just half the price.

The Bangladeshi companies are exceeding expectations in fulfilling their social responsibilities as well. For instance, every Bangladeshi company including Beximco, ACi and Square Group has a zero tolerance policy on child labor. Pran-RFL has been fighting to eradicate hunger and poverty from Bangladesh since the last decade. They have distributed free mango seeds in the western region of Bangladesh and they have provided formal training on pest control, cultivation and plantation. Beximco group has made a lot effort to bring the old glory of football back in Bangladesh. They have sponsored the Argentina vs. Nigeria match that took place in Bangabandhu National Stadium. They have established ‘Proyash’, an institution or children who needs special education and many more. ACI’s Adopt-a-Village initiative has improved the lifestyle in rural areas.

‘Kazi and Kazi’ Group in Panchagarh has established 17 dairy and tree plantation societies to remove poverty from that region. Teletalk Bangldesh has provided 325 service SIMS to wounded freedom fighters. They have started a Children’s Art Initiative, created a special fun for children with disability/diseases, collaborate with Anjuman Mofidul Islam to distribute blankets during winter and initiated several blood donation programs.

It is clear that the local companies of Bangladesh are improving day by day and making a big impact on the local economy. They have successfully overcome the general “local companies are not up to standard” idea. These companies have provided the people with cheaper and equally good products as foreign companies and they are working non-stop to make Bangladesh a better place.
