Bangladesh's fashion industry

Fashion is a popular style or practice, especially in clothing, footwear, accessories and makeup. Fashion is a distinctive and often habitual trend in the style in which a person dresses up. Fashion industry is the product of modern age. In the past tailors and dressmakers were undoubtedly responsible for the innovation of fashion and changing fashion as well.

Actually fashion depends on taste of people. For this reason fashion varies from region to region.  Before 20th century most of the dresses were handmade. At the beginning of 20th century fashion magazines were more responsible for adopting and changing fashion. But at present media, social network, fashion websites play the most important role for changing fashion.

Though the people of Bangladesh have a unique fashion of their own, they also follow the fashion of many countries. For this there is huge opportunity for the fashion industry to grow. As a result, depending on the taste of Bangladeshi people a huge number of fashion houses have been established in Bangladesh. Aarong, Kaykraft, Yellow, Anjan, Vasavi, Mantra, Shoppers, World, Rang, Zara,  Richman, Lubnan, Tendz, Shada Kalo, Ecstasy, Smartex, Menz club, Ahang fashion, Doors, Fit Elegance, Nabila fashion, Bibiana, Banglar Mela are the leading fashion houses of Bangladesh. Brand like Yellow, Richman, Trendz, Ecstasy, Menz club are following western style and have attracted a good number of crowds. But in spite of giving priority to western fashion, they do not neglect Bangladeshi traditional dresses. Yellow's brand is BEXIMCO,

On the other hand many fashion houses mainly depend on Bangladeshi traditional dresses. Among them Anjans, Banglar Mela, Aarong are the mentionable fashion houses. Yellow is also focusing on traditional dresses.

These fashion houses give priority to handloom and handicraft products. As a result they have achieved the position of one of the best-branded doth showrooms of handloom in the country.  Panjabi, salwer kamiz, shart ,Fatua, saree are their main products. The Bangladeshi people take both the western and the traditional dresses as fashion.

Interestingly, fashion changes seasonally. Fashion that is suitable for winter is not suitable for summer! As Bangladesh is a country of six seasons the fashion houses of this country have to bring variations frequently. Fashion houses of Bangladesh realize it very well and they try to bring variations in their products seasonally. If the government patronages the fashion houses, they will contribute to the economic growth further by exporting their products.

Future seems bright for the fashion industry of Bangladesh!
