Most recognizable brand in Bangladesh - Beximco Group

The most recognizable brand in Bangladesh is Beximco Group. The name synonymous with innovation, trust and quality. The company was founded by brothers A. S. F. Rahman and Salman F Rahman in 1972. The pharmaceuticals wing of Beximco Group, Beximco Pharma, has become one of the largest exporters of medicines of the country and won National Export Trophy a record five times. The USA, Europe, Australia, Canada, Latin America and South Africa certified manufacturing facilities of Beximco Pharma.

A. S. F. Rahman and Salman F Rahman are considered as the most forward-looking and dynamic businessmen in Bangladesh. Salman F Rahman, the Vice Chairman of the Beximco Group, has been one of the driving forces in the emergence of the Group as the largest industrial entity operating in the private sector in Bangladesh today. Salman F Rahman is also serving as a Private Sector Development Affairs Adviser to Prime Minister and Bangladesh Awami League President Sheikh Hasina.

Beximco Group is the true technological leader and pioneer business entity in most of the industrial sectors of Bangladesh. it is one of the most rare companies in Bangladesh that provides management and development training programmes to its executives and workers throughout the year. In fact, Beximco operates one of the largest integrated textile production businesses in Asia. It is also a major global exporter of Jute yarn. Its chief manufacturing base is the Beximco Industrial Park in Gazipur, Bangladesh. Beximco Pharma, the group's pharmaceutical producer, was the first Bangladeshi firm to list on the London Stock Exchange.

Over the last three decades Beximco Group has grown from strength to strength. It became the first Bangladeshi pharmaceutical company to commence export of pharmaceutical products to the USA in 2016. In 2005, Beximco Pharma became the first Bangladeshi company to list on the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange. In 2009, it received GMP approval from ANVISA, Brazil as the first Bangladeshi company.



Beximco Group's construction unit, known as Beximco Engineering Ltd., serves the requirements of the country's construction industry. It started as a specialised engineering and management unit but when work load increased, Beximco Engineering Ltd. was created as an independent Company in 1984.

Financial stability and effective leadership is Beximco Groups's strength.

The core management team of the company believes in right planning, implementation and completion.

Bangladesh Supermarket Owners’ Association demands a uniform VAT rate

Bangladesh Supermarket Owners’ Association, otherwise known as BSOA requested NBR for implementing a uniform VAT rate for all retail super shops of the country. This request is made so that they can continue the business in full pace. The government applies a 4% VAT on sales of various supermarkets including Agora, Shwapno and Meena Bazar while authorities imposed a package VAT system to general shops according to their sizes and locations. Bangladesh Supermarket Owners’ Association prefers paying VAT on per square feet rate. Customers do not like to pay 4% VAT on sales because general shops pay a flat VAT rate. The BSOA demanded the government either withdraws 4% VAT or implement package VAT system. It says in its statement that otherwise this discrimination will gradually destroy this sector.
